Halloween Costume Ideas

I have finally decided what my daughter is going to be for Halloween, now I just have to decide what I will be, and my husband. Although he usually waits until the last minute to pull something out from his parent's old costume box.

I'm going to write a whole post about my daughter's costume in the next few days, so look for that. Let's just say she is going to be a strawberry. Not that creative you say? Wait till you see it.

But for those of you trying to decide, here are some links that have great ideas for you and your kids:
  • From the Family fun site: http://familyfun.go.com/arts-and-crafts/season/specialfeature/halloween_ms_costumes/
  • Kids' Turn Central: http://www.kidsturncentral.com/holidays/hcostume2.htm
  • Oh, and I had to include these adorable butterfly wings from the Martha Stewart site
  • Looking for maternity costume ideas? Here you go!
  • There's also a list of fun couple maternity costumes here.

Fun Things to Do with Pumpkins

Sticking with my Halloween theme, I've found some fun ideas of things you can do with pumpkins.

Andrea wrote an article on MomDot about a lot of different things you can do. My favorite is these white ghost pumpkins. Aren't they adorable?

If you are looking for something to do besides carving pumpkins, check out this great tutorial from The R Family Diaries of how to make a ribbon pumpkin. They also have links to other pumpkins that have been done using this tutorial.

Here's a unique idea from the FeeFiFoto Blog about how to freeze dry pumpkins.

Or maybe you are looking for some fun patterns to create the perfect pumpkin, with something different than the usual jack 'o' lantern face. Jack-o-lantern.com has a ton of different free patterns you can use. I also found some fun patterns at Dot Com Women, including this great owl pattern.

Do you have any fun ideas of things to do with pumpkins? Let me know! Also, don't forget to enter all my Halloween themed giveaways going on. The Reflective Trick-or-Treat bag ends later on tonight, so get your entries in!

There are more Halloween giveaways going on over at The Not-So-Blog Blog and Momma Findings.

New Winner of the Wiggle Giggle Learn Giveaway

Well, the previous winner did not leave me a way to contact her, and I haven't heard from her, so I have picked another winner. The new winner is:

#20 sphinx63

Who said: "I learned that you should get your baby on a schedule. "The schedule you create for her is the start to developing discipline in her life. Through using a schedule, you will be teaching her when to expect certain events such as nap time, bed time, bath time, bottle, etc… This discipline will eventually roll over into her ability to self-soothe in her crib even if she wakes up in the middle of the night and to play independently without you having to be right beside her." Thanks!"

Once again, you have 48 hours to contact me, or a new winner will be pulled!

Halloween Spice Soy Tart Giveaway

I don't know about you, but I associate Halloween with the smell of fall. I love it when fall comes around, because I pull out all my spicey smelling candles. I love to have my home smell good.

Well, I discovered this company "What's That Smell" that makes soy tarts that you can break a square or two off, and melt it in a tart warmer for the wonderful fall fragrance. I like that it is made with EcoSoya wax and premium fragrances. They have a Halloween Spice Soy Tart that is a "bright mix of citrus and mulled apple notes with cassis plus soft jasmine and musky base notes."

Mmm, doesn't that sound perfect for fall? Well, What's That Smell has offered to give away one of their Halloween Spice Soy Tarts to a lucky reader.

To enter:
  • Visit their store and tell me what your favorite item is. (They also make skin care, bath and body products, and all sorts of wonderful scents for the home)
For extra entries:
  • Blog about this contest with a link here and a link to What's That Smell

Halloween Apron Giveaway and Review

To continue with our "Ghoulish Giveaways" I am pleased to introduce you to Kisses n Lollipops. She makes the cutest aprons out there. No more boring aprons for you! These are so flirty and feminine that you will want to wear these around the house. They are even cute enough to wear at a dinner party you throw to protect your fancy dress.

She has two different styles, the "Real Hot Housewife" apron and the "Real Flirty Housewife." Aren't those names great? Here are two of my favorite from her shop.

How fun are those? The "Real Flirty Housewife" aprons are a best seller in her shop. These would make great Christmas gifts for any female in your life.

I had seen her adorable Halloween aprons, and I knew I had to contact her about participating in my giveaways. She was also kind enough to give me a Halloween Real Hot Housewife apron to try out. We actually live fairly close to each other, so she hand delivered these to me. They were so nicely packaged with a matching ribbon tied around it. I think the packaging makes a big difference in your first impression of an item, and this one definitely left me with a good first impression.I put on the Hot Housewife apron, and it instantly got me in the mood for Halloween. This is perfect to wear when handing out candy to the trick-or-treaters. I loved the coordinating fabrics she used that just scream Halloween. You can bet that this will get a lot of use between now and the end of October! I mean, I just have to cook in it. It inspires me to make things! If I can look that cute in the kitchen, I guess I should spend more time in there. :)

It has a small pocket perfect to hold my wedding rings so I don't get goop in them. I made the mistake of not taking them off one time, and I was picking dried bread dough out of them for a week! It was also lined with a muslin material, and being a sewer myself, I can say that this was made very well.

Now, onto the giveaway! She has generously offered to give away her "Real Flirty Housewife" apron in the Halloween print pictured below. Isn't that so adorable?

To enter:
For extra entries:
  • Blog about this contest with a link to me and to Kisses n Lollipops
  • Digg my site
  • Add my button to your sidebar
As always, make sure you leave me a way to contact you, either with an email address in your profile or leave one in your entry. Open to US residents only. Contest will end October 2nd.

Amazon Prime Free Trial

I have to say, I love Amazon.com. We shop there all the time! You can usually find great deal on DVD's and books. In fact, when "Breaking Dawn" came out, I had pre-ordered it from Amazon, and I got it the same day it came out. Now, one of my neighbors had done the same thing, but she didn't get hers until 3 days later. Why did I get mine so soon? Well, because we are members of Amazon Prime.

That's right! We get free two day shipping, and on special things like the release of "Breaking Dawn," we got the book sooner than everyone else. What's nice is if we really wanted something right away, we could pay $3.99 for overnight shipping. How great is that? Oh, and it doesn't matter how big your order is. There are no minimum orders.

Now that I've talked up how wonderful it is, I've got great news for you. Amazon is offering a free 30 day trial if you sign up before October 31st! Now you can get all the same benefits that we do, for free!

Just click on the button above, and you can sign up right away and start experiencing the joys of Amazon Prime! (Hint: this is a great way to get Christmas shopping done, especially if you have to ship to family members far away. Just mail it straight to them! They will gift wrap it for you.)

Twilight Fragrance Giveaway!

I am excited to introduce you to this next product. I know I love the Twilight series by Stephanie Meyers, but now there is a fragrance line by Custom Scents Online that is inspired by the characters from the books! How cool is that? So now you can smell like your favorite character!

She sent me the whole line of her fragrances so I could sample all of them, including the recently released "Nessie," and they are yummy! My favorite is Bella, which is described as "soft and floral, scented with night-blooming jasmine, freesia, lavender and white tea " What is funny is reading through the descriptions of the scents, this is the one that appealed to me the most, so my idea was pretty accurate with her scents.

With Christmas coming up, this would make a great gift for all the Twilight lovers out there. She also sells lotions, bubble baths, and shower gels as well. What a great pampering gift! Imagine soaking in a tub that smells like Edward while reading the Twilight series. What better way to relax after a long day?

Custom Scents has graciously offered to give away a 5 vial sampler packet of your choice of scents.

To enter:
  • Visit her Twilight scents here, and let me know the 5 scents you would like in your sampler pack if you won.

For an extra entry:
Open to US residents only, and will end Oct 1st. You must leave a way for me to contact you if you are the winner, either through your profile, or leave an email address.

Oh, and make sure you check back through the next few months, as we've got more Twilight Giveaways coming up!

If you haven't read the books yet, why are you waiting? You can pre-order the box set of all four books in hardback, or you can order each book individually now! (Twilight,New Moon, Eclipse, and Breaking Dawn) Don't forget that you can sign up for a free 30 day trial of Amazon Prime and get free two day shipping!

I know a lot of people have heard about getting paid to take surveys online, but it doesn' really work out how you thought, right? I remember signing up for a bunch of different ones and nothing ever came from it.

Well, Matt the MomDot Man has a great article up on MomDot about a company that will actually pay you for taking surveys called SurveySpot. They do not need any personal information like a credit card or social security number to get started.

You will not get rich doing this, but it is a nice way to earn a few extra dollars here and there. Since joining sometime in 2006, Matt has made $525. Not bad, huh?

Well, how do you get started doing this? Join now. Click Here It's that simple. Let me know how this works out for you!
