Vote for ME!

I've been nominated for the Dottie Awards! In what category, you might ask?

Oh yeah! My Dad would agree! In fact, that was what he called me when I was in high school. I was in the colorguard, and was assistant captain my junior year, and captain my senior year. I marched in over 100 parades (I didn't keep count) performed in tons of field shows (halftime show at football games) and spent most of the time outside of school at a rehearsal or performance. My favorite part was when we did winterguard, which is a show indoors with just the colorguard. That was by far the best time. We had to do the fieldshows and parades to be a part of the winterguard. We were good too. The top guard in the nation would watch us perform when we were at the same shows, and gave us compliments. We won lots of trophies and awards. Well, to prove that I really was, and still am, a band geek, here are some pictures and a video!

This was me last night. I put on one of my old uniforms (Yes, I still have it! I thought it might make a good Halloween costume or something. It did look kind of spacey)

This is me, and my friend Rebecca. Aren't those dresses just wonderful? (Honestly, they were better than some of the other things we had to wear!)

This was actually during a winterguard performance. It is blurry, but I didn't have a fancy camera.

OK, this was some of us my junior year. It was a dress up day at school where the seniors were superheros, the juniors villains, the sophomores the sidekicks, and the freshmen were the police. I show this picture to show off my lovely green pants. These were actually from a uniform my sophomore year. For the fieldshow we did Little Shop of Horrors, and we had these horrible green overalls. They had an elastic waist and then the top came up and tied over the shoulders. We called them our booger suits. When that year was over, we pretty much all cut the top off, and then they became these awesome pants. They were great for St. Patrick's Day, or to wear to rehearsal. My Dad used to ask me everyday when I came home from school if I had done anything to embarrass him that day. When I came home wearing these pants, he'd just say, "Geez, I don't even have to ask today. I KNOW you embarrassed me today!"

Here is a video I made last night to show that I am still a band geek! The video has no sound, since I don't have a video camera, and this was a clip taken with my old digital camera. Please excuse the sloppiness, I haven't picked up a rifle or sabre in about 7 years! I used to be able to do a solid quad (Throw it up and have it spin around 4 times in the air before catching it) with the rifle, and a 6 with the sabre. I could do a 2 1/2 with the flag, and I can throw all of them and turn around and catch them behind my back without looking. I'm not sure how much I could do today, but like I said, I graduated about 7 years ago!

So please, please, please go vote for me at MomDot here. I am behind, and I need all the votes I can get! Thank you to those who already voted for me, without me asking. It's nice to know I have friends in the bloggy world! I like to to know that I'm not just writing to myself, other people are actually reading my blog too! Just go to the Band Geek Category and click on the circle next to Trish from Sweet 'n' Sassy Girls. While you're there, also vote for A Parker Fam under Most Likely to Succeed. That is me also, just with my personal blog. I will put up an argument on there for why you should vote for me in a minute.

Nominations Going On!

I really haven't gotten involved in blog awards before,(maybe because I've only been blogging for a few weeks now!) but I thought this one was really fun. MomDot is doing nominations for their "Dottie Awards." From their site: "Twice a year we are going to be taking nominations for The Dottie Awards, where you can nominate a blog you love for one of these categories:"

Homecoming Queen

Drama Queen

Miss Congeniality

Band Geek

Teachers Pet

Class President

Captain of the Debate Team

Captain of the Cheerleading Squad

Class Clown

Biggest Nerd

Most Likely to Succeed

I think it's kind of fun, and if you know anyone you think needs to be nominated for any of these, *cough, cough* :) J/K! just go here to make your nomination.

A lot of you don't really know me yet, so let me tell you about myself! In high school I won "Most Likely to Succeed," but I think that's because they were too nice to say "Biggest Nerd!" (I was valedictorian) I think Bridgette from The Not So Blog, Blog has that one beat though! I was always Teachers Pet, (I couldn't help myself, I got along better with adults than I did kids), and my Dad's nickname for me in high school was "Band Geek," because I was in the colorguard. I was actually captain of the colorguard senior year, and assistant captain junior year. I was president of CSF (Honors society), but I never went to any of the school dances, except prom. (My junior year it was my first date ever, and a huge disaster! My Senior year I went stag! Mainly because I grew up outside of LA and most the people I went to school with were in gangs, and I didn't want to hang around them!) In college though, I actually minored in ballroom dance, and I've even performed at halftime at the homecoming game! Umm, let me see, what else about me do you want to know? I am super crafty, and I love to read. I'm pretty quiet until you get to know me, then I open up like crazy. OK, that's enough.

By the way, I did the graphics for the main picture, and some of the the little ones! Go nominate the blogs you think deserve to be nominated, and I really was kidding about the nominating me thing. :)

All About Me!

I am a stay-at-home mom of a one year old little girl. I thought it would be fun to do product reviews and let other people know what products we really liked.

If you have something you would like me to review, contact me here. Or if you would like to sponsor a giveaway, contact me as well! I am always looking for fun things to give away.

I like to sew, read, scrapbook, dance, and just play with my daughter.

I grew up in Southern California, but now I live in Utah. My husband and I will be married for 5 years this November. I don't get out a lot, because we live out in the middle of nowhere and we only have one car. That is why I blog; to keep in contact with other adults!
