More Singing

OK, due to popular request, here is another clip of my hubby and his friends singing. Oh, and the voice you hear that's a little off is the gal's 4 year old daughter singing along. :)

The Librarian

On Sunday, December 7th at 8/7c TNT will be showing their 3rd installment of "The Librarian". In 2004, they released "The Librarian: Quest for the Spear." Two years later they followed up with "The Librarian: Return to King Solomon's Mines." Now they are releasing "The Librarian: Curse of the Judas Chalice."

I have not seen the first two movies, so I was a little worried about if I could follow this one or not. I had no problem. There are references to the other movies, but it is not an important point to the story.

It stars Noah Wyle (ER) playing Flynn Carson, co-starring Bob Newhart (Elf, The Bob Newhart Show), Jane Curtin (Our Town, 3rd Rock from the Sun), Bruce Davison (X-Men, Knight Rider) and Stana Katic (Feast of Love).

Here is how TNT describes the movie:

The story opens with the kidnapping of Professor Lazlo (Davison), a brilliant language and history expert at the University of Bucharest. Elderly and using a crutch to walk, he is taken hostage by a group that wants to force him to locate the Judas Chalice. They hope to use the cup – which was made from the 30 pieces of silver Judas received for betraying Jesus – to bring the notorious Prince Vlad Dracul back to life and foist evil on the world.

Meanwhile, Flynn heads to New Orleans for what he hopes will be a vacation. He has been summoned through mysterious dreams by Simone Renoir (Katic), a gorgeous New Orleans jazz club singer. She has made it her mission to keep the location of the Judas Chalice a secret so it won’t fall into the wrong hands. When the secret is accidentally revealed and the cup taken, Flynn and Simone must do everything in their power to prevent Vlad Dracul from casting the entire world into shadow.
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the movie, although I was a little hesitant at first. There was humor sword fighting, special effects, and an interesting story line. It has a great cast, and we loved seeing Noah Wyle as something other than a doctor. I definitly recommend watching this on Sunday December 7th. Since it is made for TV, it is family friendly, with not much language, but there is a little violence, so I wouldn't recommend it for little kids.

If you would like to watch a preview, get behind the scenes info, or even read the web comic, you can visit TNT here.

Christmas of Dreams Blog Party- Day 11

Sponsors: Day Eleven Blog Party Question is Brought to you by Shishu Style and Mimsi Bags.

Now here’s the tough part, if you could only pick one food to eat on Thanksgiving, what would it be? I know, pure torture! Do you have a home-cooked meal or eat out? Does your family dress up?

My family alway has a home cooked meal. There's never any question about it. We don't dress up. We're not that fancy. We're a very laid back family, and it's just too much trouble to try to get kids dressed up and make sure they don't ruin their clothes. So nope, usually jeans and t-shirts for us!

If I had to pick one food? That is hard. My first thought was the pies. But then that's a lot of sugar. Maybe the rolls. I like turkey, but I could live without it. I think the meal is best all together as a whole. It's the combination of everything that makes it so yummy.

Christmas of Dreams Blog Party- Day 10

Sponsors: Day Ten Blog Party Question is Brought to you by Organic Blankees, Huddy Buddy, and Baby Legs.

Do you decorate for the holidays? Do you have a themed tree? Share pics! Do you think there is such thing as OVER decorating?

Well, decorating in our little house has not been as big as it was in my parents house. Growing up we always went the first or second weekend in December to a tree lot nearby our house to pick out our tree. It had to be real, and it had to be a Douglas fir. The big bushy ones. As kids we would love to walk around the lot, smelling all the trees, and we'd find branches that had broken off and we'd use them as brooms. We'd usually find some wood chips that had been cut from the base of the tree, and we'd collect them to take home. We all loved to have that Christmas tree smell in our room.

Then we'd decorate the tree with all the ornaments we'd collected or made over the years. There was no matchy matchy for us. My Dad loves having garland and icicles on the tree, but my mom thinks that having both is too much, so we'd usually do either one or the other. I've noticed that lately though, my Dad has been getting his way more and more. Once the tree is decorated we have the lights on every night from then until we take the tree down a week or two after Christmas.

We always put lights up on the outside of the house, and we've finally talked my dad into wrapping some around the pillars we have out front. The past few years my mom has picked up some of those signs that light up in after Christmas sales so they've been putting those up on our brick wall lately. The inside of the house is decked out with all sorts of Christmas decorations, including a large wooden reindeer my mom made. We also have Mr. and Mrs. Clause dolls that my mom made years ago using bowling pins. I said something to my younger siblings a couple years ago, and they said they had no idea they were made from bowling pins, even though they'd seen them every year.

I'm starting to build my small supply of Christmas decorations, but there's not much. We finally broke down and bought a small fake tree a few years back, because I wanted a tree so badly. I did decorate that one all matchy matchy, but we got a new tree this year, so we'll see what happens. I would love to have a real tree, but for now, I think it's more economical to have a fake one. Maybe in a few years we'll get a real one!

As for over decorating, yes, I think it is possible. But that would take a LOT of decorations!

Bumkins and Dr. Seuss

Who doesn't love Dr. Seuss? I have fond memories of sitting around reading Dr.Seuss books with my Dad, and we still quote parts of them all the time. I know the cartoon of "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" is one of my family's favorite things to watch.

Well, if you love Dr. Seuss as much as I do, you will love the Bumkins line of Dr. Seuss products. Thanks to the new review program on the Mom Bloggers Club, I was able to review an adorable coverall outfit with Thing 1 and Thing 2 on it, as well as a great Grinch bib, and even an ornament for our tree.

Or favorite was the bib. It is nice and large to help protect my daughter's clothes, and the pocket at the bottom is wonderful for catching those pieces that just don't quite make it into her mouth. It is also an easy to wipe material, so I don't have to throw it into the wash every time it gets dirty. I can just wipe it off and reuse it! All their products were very well made, and the outfit is super soft.
The best part of all, is that you can receive a free Grinch bib as well! Bumkins is having a Grinchmas Gift and Contest! With any Bumkins Dr. Seuss purchase, you can receive the Free Grinch Superbib and automatically be entered to win a four pack of Dr.Seuss How the Grinch Stole Christmas Ornaments! Just enter grinch08 at checkout to receive your complimentary bib.

I would highly recommend these products to any Dr. Seuss fan. I plan on passing down my love of Dr. Seuss to my daughter, and this is a great way to do that. Thank you Bumkins and the Mom Bloggers Club for introducing me to these fun and creative products!

For Your Listening Pleasure

My husband is very musical. He loves to sing, and likes to get together with a group of his friends. They all harmonize really well together, and we recently had lunch with them. Here is a small clip. They weren't very organized, and I thought this was one of their worst times, but it was still really good! So here's a clip of them hanging out and singing.

MomDot Blog Party, Day 8

Do you shop on Black Friday? What time do you start? Do you finish all your shopping on that day? What's the best deal you have found? What's your shopping strategy?
Sponsors: Koshas, Leapfrog and Soda Club

I have been shopping on Black Friday, but it's not a must for me. I've only gone with my mom, and we get all the ads out on Thanksgiving after dinner and browse through them. Not just my Mom and me, but my grandma, my aunts, and my cousins. My dad and uncles even go through the electronic stores ads. Then we decide if there's stuff that we really need, or if it's not a big deal. Last year when I was there we decided it wasn't worth it to go out for the one or two things that we may have used.

Now that my daughter is getting a little older and wants toys, I might have to hit up some of those sales this year. Do you know that WalMart will price match the same items? Like if there is a specific toy on sale at Toys 'R' Us that WalMart carries, you can just go to WalMart and buy it there for the same price. That way you don't have to run from one store to another to get all the good deals. Just a tip! :)

As for the rest of the question, I don't remember the best deal I've gotten, since I've only gone once or twice. I haven't really cared before now, since I haven't been the one buying! :) LOL!

MomDot Blog Party, Day 7

Sponsors: Day Seven Blog Party Question is Brought to you by Sillymonkeez and My Baby Bump.

Tell us who is on your naughty list? Who is on your nice list? Why?

I don't really have a naughty and nice list. My daughter is only 18 months, so she doesn't understand. We like to give anyways, so it's always fun to make or buy those gifts for others around us. It might not be much, but we love to share with our good friends and family.

Growing up, we didn't really get threatened with the naughty list, that I can remember. I do remember writing a list to Santa and putting it on the fridge of things we wanted for Christmas. Then as we thought of more things, we added it to the list. This was also a great way for the family to know what to buy us. I know it was just my moms way of finding out what we wanted, but it was great.

I was watching old episodes of Friends the other day, and I saw the one where Phoebe comes in wearing Santa pants because she thought they were maternity pants because they were so comfortable and because they came with a list of kids names, ones that were bad, and ones that were good. That's the first thing I thought of when I read this question. :)

Christmas of Dreams Blog Party- Day 4

Sponsors: Day Four Blog Party Question is Brought to you by Bottlewise and Glow Mama.

What is your favorite Holiday recipe?

I don't really have a favorite holiday recipe. We have to have sugar cookies though, or it's not a holiday. I love pumpkin pie for Thanksgiving, and for Christmas we love to make fudge or toffee, or caramel. That's probably the things I like to eat most during the holidays.

Describe your Holiday table.

We don't do anything fancy. For Thanksgiving we put all the kids in the kitchen and all the adults on a couple of folding tables in the living room. We do use the nicer dishes, and we drink from goblets. For Christmas we use the nicer dishes too, but there's no table decorations. There's no room for them! Oh, and we tend to use cloth napkins as well.

What is your biggest Holiday cooking disaster?

I'm not usually the one doing the cooking, so I don't really have any disasters. I think the worst was last year we went to my parents for Thanksgiving, and I wanted to make them my sil's recipe for rolls, which are really yummy. Well, I made them, let them rise one, pushed them down, and they didn't rise again. I left them out all night to see if they would rise, and they never did. When I cooked them, they seemed to have a slightly sourdough taste, because I'd left them out all night! Maybe I'll be brave and try them again this year and see if they work out.
