The Librarian

On Sunday, December 7th at 8/7c TNT will be showing their 3rd installment of "The Librarian". In 2004, they released "The Librarian: Quest for the Spear." Two years later they followed up with "The Librarian: Return to King Solomon's Mines." Now they are releasing "The Librarian: Curse of the Judas Chalice."

I have not seen the first two movies, so I was a little worried about if I could follow this one or not. I had no problem. There are references to the other movies, but it is not an important point to the story.

It stars Noah Wyle (ER) playing Flynn Carson, co-starring Bob Newhart (Elf, The Bob Newhart Show), Jane Curtin (Our Town, 3rd Rock from the Sun), Bruce Davison (X-Men, Knight Rider) and Stana Katic (Feast of Love).

Here is how TNT describes the movie:

The story opens with the kidnapping of Professor Lazlo (Davison), a brilliant language and history expert at the University of Bucharest. Elderly and using a crutch to walk, he is taken hostage by a group that wants to force him to locate the Judas Chalice. They hope to use the cup – which was made from the 30 pieces of silver Judas received for betraying Jesus – to bring the notorious Prince Vlad Dracul back to life and foist evil on the world.

Meanwhile, Flynn heads to New Orleans for what he hopes will be a vacation. He has been summoned through mysterious dreams by Simone Renoir (Katic), a gorgeous New Orleans jazz club singer. She has made it her mission to keep the location of the Judas Chalice a secret so it won’t fall into the wrong hands. When the secret is accidentally revealed and the cup taken, Flynn and Simone must do everything in their power to prevent Vlad Dracul from casting the entire world into shadow.
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the movie, although I was a little hesitant at first. There was humor sword fighting, special effects, and an interesting story line. It has a great cast, and we loved seeing Noah Wyle as something other than a doctor. I definitly recommend watching this on Sunday December 7th. Since it is made for TV, it is family friendly, with not much language, but there is a little violence, so I wouldn't recommend it for little kids.

If you would like to watch a preview, get behind the scenes info, or even read the web comic, you can visit TNT here.
